This post was written as part of the 100 word challenge at Julia’s place. It’s my second attempt, because after reading the others I realised I had really wimped out the first time by not attempting to write about George and the Dragon.
George and his dragon made a clever team.
They travelled through the lands both far and near.
They had a plan that worked just like a dream:
The beast breathed fire and made the people fear…
He stole their cattle and their pretty girls,
Committed the most fearsome of deeds.
Then while the townsfolks’ minds were in a whirl,
Young George rode in upon his trusty steed.
He said that he could leave this beast for dead,
But it would cost at least a hundred crowns.
Then with his sword raised high above his head,
He charged and chased the beast right out of town.
After sharing out their loot, with smiles so smug
The two set off to find the next poor mugs.
Hahaha this made me laugh out loud. Just love the idea of George and the dragon being in cahoots. Hahahaha
And I didn’t think that you had wimped out- I liked your take on it 😉
(This is even better though.)
Reading it again does make me think of politicians for some reason that I can’t quite put my finger on…
The dastardly pair! How cunning! This reminds me of Tuco and Blondie in Good Bad and Ugly … there’s usually no honour among thieves in the end. Like politicians, I suspect.
I’ve not seen GB and U but I’m guessing there’s not a happy ending? I think George and his beast are having far too much fun to have a falling out.
Depends who decides to get greedy …
And there is a sort of rough justice at the end of GBU. The best spag western ever made. Plot, characters, scenery, score … and Clint! Brilliant!
Think their’s is too symbiotic a relationship. The dragon could go demanding protection money in return for not setting fire to cornfields, but without George to ‘defeat’ him he might have to take on a real hero. And without the dragon George would have to get a proper job.
But not equal. Who takes the most risk? For George, its easy money, and gains fame to boot. His ‘friend’ is everyone’s enemy wherever he goes and still risks fighting a real hero. That would be interesting – would George dare stand up for his ‘mate’ in the face of another knight? Or an angry mob who reckon strength in numbers?
I love your version of the story. I don’t think dragons are as bad as people think, just really smart. Also love Anna’s comment about politicians . . . too true (although I would argue dragons are probably smarter).
I wouldn’t mind a pet dragon. Certainly wouldn’t want a pet politician though – I don’t think they’d be easy to housetrain.
LOL. They would be much too noisy, always wanting to have the last word and argue their point.
But you might get a few kickbacks 😉
Thanks for making me smile on a miserable wet morning. I like the idea of them being in cahoots. Well done.
Glad to put a smile on someone’s face.
Excellent. A modern day scam! Clever thinking!
Brilliant! Like Del Boy and Rodney with flames 🙂
I shall never watch OFaH in the same light ever again!
I have this wonderful picture of two scoundrels plotting in amidst the Middle Ages! You didn’t HAVE to write about the couple you know but I’m very glad you did!
The pairing is perfect… and possibly frightening! Nice job.
Haha! Love it. Really clever piece!
Thanks.
