Home Repairs

“I’ve been up since dawn today, at the top of a ladder repairing my roof. I’m scared of heights, but I couldn’t afford to pay someone to do it for me.  I couldn’t afford to leave it either because the rain was coming through where the tiles were missing and ruining my floor. I’ve had to repaint my front door too. So I’m in a foul mood and I’m exhausted. Shut the door behind you – you’re letting the draft in.”

I glare furiously at the two children trembling before me. “So tell me, Hansel and Gretel, what made you think it was OK to eat my house?”
