She wasn’t sure at first. Could it really be? Days later she knew – the thin blue line in the window confirmed that their dreams of the last few years had come true. She told him, and they held each other, weeping for joy.
Another surprise…two heartbeats filled her ears. Two bodies, wrapped around each other, filled the screen.
The long weeks stretched out ahead of them, yet passed in the blink of an eye, until, “It’s time,” she said.
Hours later, exhausted but elated, she held them. Piercing yells and contented gurgles came out of the mouths of babes and into the heart of their mother.

The prompts Julia provides are good at forcing a different approach. This was a very well written piece. I’m not sure about mine this week; have another idea and might be naughty and have another attempt later in the week…
It’s not naughty. I’ve done double entries a couple of times now, and so have a few others. I think you’re allowed to share as many as you feel creative enough to write! I really enjoyed reading yours this week – very true to life!
How *sweet*. I must say, I enjoyed this different style. I’m glad you didn’t write a funny one. There’s quite a few of those this week and this is really quite sensitive. And uplifting. About as far as you can get from mine, with a return to darkness … v–v. Well, you need a contrast …

Oh, what a gorgeous tribute to our Harriet and her two brand new girls. This made me a little teary, but then I have a granddaughter due anytime now xx

The twins is supposed to be her 2nd surprise. The first is finding out she’s pregnant, so that’s where my title came from.
Maybe just ‘Surprises’ then. I like the mystery and ambiguity … but, that’s just me. ‘…. and into the heart of their mother’. Good line, although, knowing me, you’ll probably think I have a darker use for it … /-/

I liked this straightforward, sweet story. I especially liked the, “… and into the heart of their mother,” part.
Thanks. That was the bit I thought of first – it just sort of followed on (in my head anyway) from the prompt. I seem to make a habit of writing my pieces from the last line backwards.
